Hello [and Goodbye?!] Possums! Dame Edna at National Theatre

11 Dame Edna National Theatre April 21-26

It’s the FINAL finale… or is it?!  Currently on stage for the “last” time at the historic National Theatre, Barry Humphries brings his spectacularly sinful Dame Edna for her Glorious Goodbye Farewell Tour for one week only, April 21- 26.

With over 50 years of keeping audiences in side-splitting laughter, the tour gives audiences the chance to bid farewell to the incomparable Dame Edna, arguably Australia’s greatest entertainment export, and toast her sparkling personality and razor sharp wit with her favorite flower — the gorgeous gladiolus — and a great sense of humor.  Audiences are warned to dress well (she’ll call you out!) and not to be gentle… because you know she won’t — No one is safe from her comedy hijinks and tell-it-like-it-is tongue.

“I thought when my two week experiment ended that was the end of [Dame Edna],” Humphries explained at the opening night’s show finale of how his character started with a short run at school in Australia in 1955.  “But after some years, Edna [really] caught on…”

Touched by the audiences response to his routine, Humphries added, “Promise me that you will always – each and every one of you – come along, to my next farewell show!”
