Kate Michael, @kstreetkate, is a Writer/Model/On-Camera Host and Event Emcee. Notable as the Founder and current Editor-At-Large of K Street Magazine, Kate started the site while serving as Miss District of Columbia 2006 and competing in Miss America (2007). Currently, Kate works as a professional spokesperson and model, walking the runway for such industry icons as Valentino, Derek Lam, Naeem Kahn and Oscar de la Renta. Her media portfolio includes a spread in Elle magazine and features on Inside Edition and BBC World News’ “The Real Cities” series. Did you know that this summer marks the 85th birthday of the drive-in movie theatre?  Union Market commemorates the occasion with it’s popular Drive-In Movie Series returning this Spring.

First there will be a special screening of Indiana Jones: Raiders of the Lost Ark on Friday, May 11 at 8pm to officially kick off the annual Americana-inspired drive-in experience held in the Market’s parking lot (1309 5th Street NE) and projected onto the wall. Each family-friendly showing is free for walk-up film fans viewing in the picnic area, or pay just $10 per car.

Munch and sip on theater-quality delectables delivered on wheels by The DC Rollergirls during the entire series schedule:

  • Friday, May 11, 8 p.m: Indiana Jones: Raiders of the Lost Ark
  • Friday, June 1, 8:45 p.m: Clueless
  • Friday, July 6, 8:55 p.m: Like Water for Chocolate (Spanish language, English subtitles)
  • Friday, August 3, 8:45 p.m: Black Panther
  • Friday, September 7, 8 p.m: The Lion King
  • Friday, October 5, 8:15 p.m: Cool Runnings
  • Friday, November 2, 8 p.m: Hocus Pocus
