Ball on the Mall!

Young professionals of The L’Enfant Society hosted the Third Annual Ball on the Mall Saturday.  Held on the National Mall, the event served to raise funds for restoration efforts on the National Mall by the Trust for the National Mall, the official non-profit partner of the National Park Service.

Young professionals, many of whom had enjoyed a day at the Virginia Gold Cup races, flocked to the Mall in the evening for the much anticipated black tie event, a rarity to be held on such a site.  Among the attendees were: Justin Fishkin, Amanda Polk, Mark Ein, Pamela Sorensen, Winston Lord, Tyler Boyd and Lindley Thornburg.

Welcoming an expected 1,000 attendees, this year’s Ball honored the country and culture of Japan in launching the year-long centennial celebration of the Cherry Blossom trees and the launch of the Trust’s efforts to fund the Cherry Tree Endowment. In honor of the people of Japan, the Trust donated 10% of funds from the Ball’s silent auction to the Red Cross’ relief efforts in areas affected by the recent earthquake and tsunami.
