Spring Tempts on the Terrace at Blue Duck
Spring is the perfect time to dine al-fresco, and with the opening of the Terrace at The Blue Duck Tavern and the launch of the new spring menu, it’s clear that this place should be top of the list for outdoor dining.
At a special patio preview last week, the team at Blue Duck showed off the finer points of the menu, accompanied by gorgeous trio of seasonal cocktails, which take inspiration from the best of spring produce and make use of warmer weather favorites like super sweet strawberries and fresh rhubarb, with a nod to the tropics tempting with pineapple, kiwis and lime.
Executive chef, Franck Loquet, has chosen to embrace both the green and red of fresh spring strawberries and these were on display in the Strawberry Salad, which combines green pickled strawberry and sweet strawberries, and is accompanied by goat’s cheese, granola and radish. This is a can’t-miss dish that captures that light and breezy spring feeling.
Other delightful spring dishes included on the seasonal menu include Elysian Fields Rack of Lamb and a Marine Scallop Crudo with buttermilk pannacotta and toasted brioche. These particularly embody the best of rustic cooking with an American twist.
Desserts rounded out the evening, again bringing back the old favorites of strawberry and rhubarb shortcake, and classic Carrot Cake pops are stands outs as well.
There may be no better place in the West End to enjoy a fine spring evening than the Terrace at the Blue Duck Tavern. Guests can relax on the sunken terrace, gaze out at the blue mosaic fountain, and spend some relaxing time in the gorgeous weather enjoying Spring’s bounty.
