Rattle the Runway will take place on Sunday, September 6 from 8 a.m. to 10 a.m. and is an annual commemorative motorcycle ride from Dulles Airport to the Pentagon. Motorcycle staging and Opening Ceremonies will take place in the rear of the National Air and Space Museum – Steven F. Udvar-Hazy Center. The Georgetown Business Improvement District (BID) will screen Burn After Reading, starring Brad Pitt, George Clooney, Frances McDormand, and Tilda Swinton on Tuesday, September 8 at 7:30 p.m. in scenic Georgetown Waterfront Park. The movie is part of the lineup in Georgetown Sunset Cinema, Georgetown’s first-ever free outdoor movie experience. Mount Vernon re-creates a lively early-American marketplace with demonstrations, crafts and entertainment at its Colonial Market & Fair on Saturday, September 19, and Sunday, September 20, from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. More than forty juried artisans from across the nation will demonstrate their trades and sell their wares while two stages of family entertainment delight audiences with 18th-century amusements. Try your hand at 18th century cricket! Demonstrations and cricket games will be played throughout the weekend.
Mount Vernon’s Colonial Market & Fair is the most authentic and diverse event of its kind, bringing together distinguished artisans working in colonial attire and a dozen entertainers who re-create the amusements loved by early Americans. As visitors shop, artisans demonstrate their crafts and explain the historic trades used to make items similar to those George Washington purchased in the 18th century.
General Washington will preside over a host of amusements including: Mr. Bayly, Conjuring and Entertainments; Signora Bella, Equilibrist; Professor Thompson S. Gunn, Mystic Arts of Asia, the Far East, & India; and more! Fair fare will be available from the Mount Vernon Inn Restaurant concession stands.
Free Potomac River sightseeing cruises are available while supplies last. Costumed interpreters will be demonstrating the 18th-century chocolate-making process using an authentic colonial recipe!

As summer sadly winds down, Bethesda’s Redwood Restaurant and Bar is celebrating the end of the season with a Crab Feast & Patio Party on Saturday, September 19.
This family-friendly weekend bash has all the makings of a perfect summer picnic: bushels of hot, steamed crabs, live local music, an outdoor grill serving up classic American fare, refreshing summer beers, wines and cocktails, and kids activities, all on Bethesda Row’s main thoroughfare, “The Lane.” Though the event is open to the public and free to enter, Redwood will offer several ticketed crab feast options, including all-you-can-eat and by-the-half-dozen. Washington City Paper is pleased to announce that the 12th annual Crafty Bastards Arts & Crafts Fair will return to Union Market in Northeast Washington, D.C., on Saturday, Sept. 26, and Sunday, Sept. 27, 2015.
The two-day outdoor exhibition will feature handmade products and wares by more than 150 artists and crafters from around the country. The fair will run daily from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. in the parking lot in front of Union Market, located at 1309 5th St. NE, Washington, D.C.

The Washington Humane Society (WHS) will host its annualDC Walk for the Animals & Pet-A-Palooza on Saturday, September 26, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. WHS has also announced its partnership with 94.7 Fresh FM as this year’s Presenting Sponsor featuring 94.7 Fresh FM’s very own Darik Kristofer as Emcee. The event will return to The Kingsbury Center (5000 14th Street, NW), near the Carter Barron Amphitheater in Northwest DC. This is a community event with fun for both two- and four-footed members of the family.
Individuals and teams with their canine friends will walk one mile to raise awareness and much needed funding forWHS. Plus, WHS adopters have the chance to become the Grand Marshal of the Walk, by entering their dog’s information upon Walk registration at www.dclovesdcanimals.org. The Grand Marshal and winning dog will help kick off the festivities for the day, and lead the Walk!
In addition, Pet-A-Palooza is a festival of games, contests, and activities for kids, adults, and dogs. Adopt Force One, the WHS mobile adoption vehicle, will be onsite with adoptable animals looking to find their forever homes. Prizes for Top Fundraising Team and Top Individual Fundraiser will be awarded at the event.
This event is free to attend, but WHS encourages walkers to register or to create a team to help raise critical funds for DC animals; registration is $20 for adults, $15 for kids (4 – 12 years old), and free for children ages three and under. Also on the registration page, participants can set up personalized fundraising pages to motivate friends and family to get involved.
