Do Good Summit is a one-day, intensive, interactive conference for entrepreneurs, innovators, small business owners, advocates, and change makers who believe in the power of doing good AND doing well. Heurich House Museum Executive Director, Kim Bender (@the_location), will moderate “The Business of History in Washington, DC”, a Do Good Summit panel discussion about how the local history of the Capital is woven through the fabric of local business, and how to leverage and celebrate that history to make your business stronger. Anna Kahoe, Owner, Good Wood & Blagden Alley Social Club (@ark67), Nizam Ali, Co-Owner, Ben’s Chili Bowl & Ben’s Next Door (@benschilibowl), and Thor Cheston, Co-Founder, Right Proper Brewery (@ThorCheston), will talk about their experiences.

Presented by the Brewers Association (BA), SAVOR: An American Craft Beer & Food Experience is the premier beer and food pairing event in the U.S. Following its New York City debut in 2013, the seventh annual SAVOR returns to Washington, D.C. Attendees will enjoy beers from 76 small and independent American craft breweries, hailing from 29 different states and representing all regions of the country. Along with innovative and flavorful craft beers, SAVOR offers a diverse and delicious array of food pairings designed by Brewers Association culinary consultant Chef Adam Dulye, co-owner/chef of San Francisco’s The Monk’s Kettle and The Abbot’s Cellar. On Friday, May 9, DC’s newest concert venue Echostage (2135 Queens Chapel Rd. NE, DC. www.echostage.com) will host Paris Hilton, for her first-ever DJ set in the nation’s capital. Tickets to see The Heiress start at $20. District high-rollers and true Hilton fans can get their own royal treatment with Echostage’s VIP-table service.
Hilton will takeover Echostage, spinning her hottest tracks from “Nothing In This World” to “Last Night,” among other popular hits. Carlos Melangé will open for the international mega-star and the night will end with a performance by George Acosta. Three stages of entertainment will showcase the terrifying talents of contortionists, magicians, jugglers, fire breathers, sword swallowers and more. Great Cats Team, Smithsonian’s National Zoo
The Smithsonian Conservation Biology Institute and National Zoo and indie band Portgual. The Man launched the #EndangeredSong Project April 22, Earth Day 2014. The analog meets digital outreach campaign has been raising awareness about the critically endangered Sumatran tiger and the need for conservation efforts. The Zoo and the band distributed a previously unreleased song titled “Sumatran Tiger” to 400 social media influencers on 400 custom polycarbonate records, which will degrade after a certain amount of plays. With no other copies in existence, the 400 participants were tasked with digitizing and “breeding” the song through their social channels with #EndangeredSong.
Portugal. The Man will begin their performance promptly at 6:30 p.m. There is no opening act. The Great Cats team at the Zoo will be available to answer questions about Sumatran tigers—including the three living there—and conservation. Food and beverages will be available for purchase during the concert. The Zoo’s Speedwell Conservation Carousel will play music by Portugal. The Man that evening to celebrate the Endangered Song Project.
