Mortified is a comic excavation of adolescent writing, art, and media.  Hailed as a “cultural phenomenon” by Newsweek, Mortified is a live show that allows us to relive the strange and extraordinary things we created as kids.  Witness adults sharing their own adolescent journals, letters, poems, lyrics, home movies, stories, and more.  Open to anyone from actors to accountants.  Must be 21+.

Whether you’re with your sweetie or single, SpeakeasyDC’s 6th annual Sucker for Love storytelling show is a unique and unforgettable way to spend Valentine’s Day — listening to heartfelt and hilarious true stories about loves found, lost, and imagined.  As always, SpeakeasyDC promises storytelling at its best with a cast of new and veteran storytellers, including Dan Coyle telling about what it’s like to date after thirty years of marriage; Mikael Johnson shedding light on what to do when your new girlfriend has a teenage daughter; and Cindy and Mike Kane sharing two vastly different perspectives on the same courtship. The show also featuring, Elizabeth McCain, Elissa Laura, Mike Baireuther, and Callie Wright, with host and director Stephanie Garibaldi.

The nonprofit has partnered with African Passion Wine to supports human rights and social justice in Africa. The party and meet-and-greet will include heavy hors’ doeuvres, a band, and the opportunity to meet and take photos with the celebrated star of films such as Lethal Weapon andAngels in the Outfield.

In addition to the funds raised at the February 20 event, 10 percent of each bottle of African Passion sold will benefit TransAfrica Forum. Social Media and the Local Music Scene: Engaging Local Audiences and Re-Envisioning Social Networks @ Veracruz Gallery Art Bar
