It’s time…
To sign up for this year’s DC Tweed Ride! They’ve done it every year since 2009, and they’re not stopping now.
Meet up October 29 around noon at a secret location (that will be shared with those who sign up for the ride). You’ll cruise through District streets, take breaks for pictures and snacks, and then gather for a night of merriment and style at Roofers Union.
The party will be going strong from 5:30 to 9 p.m., and will feature the legendary Dandy Wellington and His Band, food, drinks, and the most stylish dandies and dames on this side of the Atlantic!
Three types of ticket are available:
- Free Ride Registration ticket (enables us to e-mail you with start location details on 10/27/2017),*
- Ticket to the Jazz Age Jam at Roofers Union without food or
- Ticket to our Jazz Age Jam at Roofers Union with food.**
* You must register for the ride to receive the ride information and start location, even if you purchase party tickets. Each adult rider must register separately.
**Tickets that include the buffet meal must be purchased by October 26 to provide the venue with enough notice to prepare for our hungry riders.

More than 200 crafty bastards from all over North America will be setting up for a home run of a weekend on November 11 & 12 at Nationals Park when the 14th annual Crafty Bastards Arts & Crafts Fair, presented by the Washington City Paper (WCP), takes over the concourse. Single day and weekend passes to the festival are now on sale via the WCP website.
“The Washington City Paper has always strived to connect the voice and vision of independent artists with our readers. This festival creates an experience where consumers can discover unconventional, hard-to-find arts and crafts, meet the artists, and even make something themselves,” says the fair’s curator Wendy Silverman. “There’ll be surprises at every booth including unique home goods, clothing, punk-rock baby clothes, handcrafted jewelry, plush toys, DIY kits, screen-printing, original art, locally produced food, and much more!”
Attendees can start an art collection, get a jump on their holiday shopping, or just treat themselves to something they never knew they have to have at booths from long-time, popular Crafty Bastards, like Cuddles and Rage, DeNada Designs, Eilisain Jewelry, Stitch & Rivet, Rocks & Salt, Marcella Kriebel Art & Illustration, and Twenty Two West. Featuring more than 70 merchants, this unique shopping experience is a great way to shop for a cause and check off many items on your holiday gift list. From food, desserts, clothing, stationery, and more, Holiday Shops will have something for everyone on your shopping list. The full list of merchants is available here.
Proceeds from Holiday Shops support the League’s volunteer work in the community, our development programs that train and empower women as civic leaders, and our grants to literacy-related programs in the Washington, DC, metropolitan area. JLW’s trained volunteers serve the Washington, DC, community in a variety of ways, including at the National Book Festival, the Washington School for Girls, Calvary Women’s Services, and more than 20 other DC-area nonprofits.
