During the 2nd Annual CureNFwithJack DC Golf Classic, there will be a medical symposium hosted by Dr. Robert Avery and featuring many of the nation’s leading physicians. While we are playing some golf, they will be meeting ALL DAY to discuss ways to better standardize care for NF patients. Unlike ANY golf event that you may have been a part of, CureNFwithJack DC will allow you to literally “see” your dollars at work before you shank your first drive! Opportunities to meet with the physicians helping our NF heroes will occur after the round. DC Bike Party: The Riding Dead is coming! On October 9th, the party group ride which averages between 500-700 participants each month will ride through Washington, DC dressed as zombies and all things un-dead. DC Bike Party, a community organized group ride which held its first ride in July 2012, grew to over 700 riders in September of this year.
The group, departing from Dupont Circle, will set out to complete an approximately 7-mile ride, visiting some of the city’s major landmarks and attractions with a pit stop on Capitol Hill before ending with a celebration at Congressional Cemetery. DC Bike Party participants will be treated to a live show by local favorites, the Bumper Jacksons and a full beer garden set up in the cemetery!
A map of the complete route will be available at DCBikeParty.com 24 hours before the ride. Riders are welcome to join or depart the group at any point—many riders use Capital Bikeshare.

ESPN 980 on-air personality, Washington Times sports columnist and Washington-Baltimore journalism legend Thom Loverro returns to the National Press Club Thursday, December 5 at 7 p.m. in the McClendon Room for another Piano Lesson hosted by the Young Members committee.
Loverro co-hosts “The Sports Fix” from noon to 2 p.m. Monday through Friday on ESPN 980 AM and is back for his second stint as Washington Times sports columnist. Loverro was previously at the Times from 1992-2009 before a three-year stint at the Washington Examiner. Loverro has been a professional journalist since 1977, including eight years as a news editor and reporter for the Baltimore Sun, where he covered government, politics and crime.
Loverro was voted Maryland Sportswriter of the Year by the National Sportscasters and Sportswriters Association in 2009 and has won 27 national, regional and local journalism awards over his career, including a first place in the National Society of Newspaper Columnists, according to his website. Loverro has also written 11 books, many involving his deep knowledge of the mid-atlantic professional sports scene. Loverro is also passionate about non-mainstream sports like Washington and Baltimore’s boxing and horse racing scenes.
As his running feud with Capitals/Wizards/Verizon Center owner Ted Leonis demonstrates, Loverro is not afraid to afflict the comfortable and comfort the afflicted. Bring your career questions and Washington pro football takes Thursday, December 5 at 7 p.m. to the McClendon Room. This event is free for members.

Sneakerball is the only black tie and sneakers gala tgat annually celebrates the best of sports in the greater washington region. The event is organized to recognize and benefit the Special Olympics and Greater Washington Sports Alliance Foundation, the nonprofit oundation of the Sports Alliance that uses the philanthropic generosity of indivudla and corporate donors to make strategic investments in emerging non-profis that use sports to enhance children’s lives.
