The popular longest-running winter affair will take place over two days the weekend of February 4-5, 2023, throughout Old Town. The sale, which will be comprised of over 40 independent boutiques will take place in stores,
pop-up tents, and open retail spaces along King Street and select side streets. Kristen Jones Real Estate. Shoppers are sure to find the best deals from Alexandria and the region’s finest
retailers, indie brands, clothing, shoes, jewelry, home furnishings, and more. Attendees will get to shop from a wide variety of local brands at up to 80 percent off retail prices. The hours will
vary by store. Participating businesses will also have QR code stations and tents where shoppers can download the sale map and plot out their shopping plans or favorite spots to visit.

Get a jumpstart on the fun by participating in the giveaways being held leading up to the weekend event. National Museum of Women in the Arts’ 2023 Spring Gala
On Friday, April 14, 2023, the National Museum of Women in the Arts (NMWA) hosts its annual black-tie gala. Join co-chairs Anita McBride and Patti White and NMWA patrons for a special night at the museum’s largest annual fundraising event, which supports NMWA’s special exhibitions, and diverse education and public programming initiatives. The Ambassador of Italy, Her Excellency Mariangela Zappia, will be our Honorary Diplomatic Chair. RBC Wealth Management is Presenting Sponsor for the evening.

The event will feature a seated dinner and entertainment. Luminaries from Washington’s diplomatic, governmental and social communities are expected to attend. This year’s gala will honor Cecilia Alemani, curator and artistic director of the 59th Venice Biennale, with the 2023 NMWA Achievement Award for Excellence in the Arts. Since 2011, she has been the Donald R. Mullen, Jr. Director & Chief Curator of High Line Art, the public art program presented by the High Line in New York. In 2022, she curated The Milk of Dreams, the 59th International Art Exhibition at La Biennale di Venezia. In 2018, Alemani served as Artistic Director of the inaugural edition of Art Basel Cities: Buenos Aires. In 2017, she curated the Italian Pavilion at the Venice Biennale.

WHAT: City Ridge is bringing history, fashion, forgotten facts and never-before-seen photos together at its new Fashion Lecture Series hosted by fashion historian, John Tiffany.

From 7-8 PM at 30 Ridge Square NW, fashion historian John Tiffany will explore the influence of Hollywood on 1930’s fashion. From flapper fringe to tweed suits, flounces and frills, John will dive deep into how the starpower of Hollywood shaped American fashion and beyond, all while sipping on a 30’s-style handcrafted alcoholic beverage.

WTEF’s largest annual fundraising event, the gala helps enable the continuance of their important work of Building Life Champions through tennis and education.

The gala features a cocktail reception and open bar, three-course gala wine dinner, a live musical performance by DC’s own The “Original” Moonlighters, and their signature “Bid It to Win It” silent auction fundraiser.

      • Details: When the Paris design workrooms shut down at the start of World War II, New York became the fashion capital of the world. Eleanor Lambert, iconic fashion publicist, propelled the industry forward with the world’s first fashion week, the International Best Dressed List, the Coty Awards, the Metropolitan Museum’s Costume Institute and the Met Gala. Lambert also shaped the careers of some of history’s most renowned fashion icons including Mainbocher, Valentina and Christian Dior. In collaboration with Lambert, Dior launched his first collection, The New Look, and the duo later created the first Paris Fashion Week. John Tiffany, Eleanor Lambert’s biographer and former assistant, will detail how it happened, sharing never-before-seen photos, sensational stories and the juicy gossip behind one of most fascinating decades in the world of fashion.
