*Nearest Green, affectionately nicknamed Uncle Nearest by his friends and family in Lynchburg, Tennessee, is the world’s first known African American master distiller. Nearest is credited with helping perfect the globally recognized Lincoln County Process, which is the defining distinction between Kentucky Bourbon from Tennessee Whiskey. This unique filtering of whiskey through sugar maple charcoal was named after the county where Nearest lived and made his highly regarded whiskey.

Nearest Green Distillery, a 323-acre Tennessee Walking Horse farm that has been dubbed by the press as “Malt Disney World,” was purchased in 2017 by Uncle Nearest, Inc. and opened for public tours in 2019. https://unclenearest.com/

**Established in 2019, Drunk Chicken Cigars are handmade in the U.S.A. to create premium flavor profiles.  Every combination of tobacco leaf, including the filler, binder, and wrapper, was chosen to produce an assortment of smooth, rich, and savory cigars with a variety of customers in mind. The mission of the Drunk Chicken Cigars family is to produce premium cigars that can be smoked anytime of the day. Our cigars have tones ranging from spicy black pepper, coffee, earthiness, and dark and creamy-chocolate, which can accompany your breakfast, lunch, dinner and evening nightcap. Fainting Goat’s Industry Night with Catoctin Creek @ Fainting Goat
Oct 4 @ 7:00 PM – 11:30 PM

U Street neighborhood tavern Fainting Goat is calling all whiskey & food lovers for a special industry night celebration with local VA craft distillery Catoctin Creek on Tuesday, October 4. Not just for restaurant industry members and fully open to the public, the evening (7-11:30pm) will feature spirits tastings, cocktail specials, “cheffy” late night bites, raffle prizes and more.

Fainting Goat is excited to once again host Catoctin Creek, the first legal distillery in Loudoun County since before Prohibition, located in nearby Purcellville, Virginia. The award-winning craft distillery produces a variety of rye whiskeys made from local and organic grains, gins and fruit brandies. Catoctin Creek representatives will pour tastings of several spirits and also give away raffle prizes throughout the night.

The Goat’s bar team created several early fall-inspired cocktails showcasing Catoctin Creek’s diverse lineup of rye whiskeys and gins.

Tailored to the industry crowd, there’s also a menu of boilermakers & drink combos, such as the Grand Goat (DC Brau’s “Goat ‘n Brau” + Grand Marnier); Amaro Ranger (amaro nonino + Voodoo Ranger); Miller High Life + Chef Sam’s Caviar Bump.

Executive Chef Sam George will serve a creative menu of Late Night Bites: highbrow-meets-lowbrow, cheffed-up snacks inspired by industry folks’ favorite post-shift grub. Expect Pizza Rolls filled with ‘nduja, mozzarella and rosemary oil; and bone marrow-topped Steak of the Union cheesesteak with NY strip, roasted bone marrow, gruyere and pickled hatch chiles on sourdough.

He’s also curated Chips & Cheese pairings, coupling crispy snacks with fancy cheeses. Duos include Sour Cream & Onion + havarti dill from Wisconsin; BBQ Pringles + aged grafton cheddar from Vermont; and Takis + smoked blu cheese from Mold City USA.
