Chance for Life will host its first annual Pediatric Cancer Awareness Month Poker Tournament at Union District Oyster Bar & Lounge on Sunday, September 29. The tournament will last from 3:30pm to 6:30pm with an after party until 9:30pm. Guests are invited to purchase their poker seat or after party ticket at poker4research.givesmart.com. All net proceeds will benefit Chance for Life, furthering its pediatric cancer research initiatives and clinical trials.

National Symphony Orchestra Artistic Advisor Ben Folds will sign copies of his new memoir, A Dream About Lightning Bugs: A Life of Music and Cheap Lessons. The event features a moderated discussion with Kennedy Center President Deborah F. Rutter.
The Ritz-Carlton, Pentagon City will launch its second season of this popular series with two bestselling authors: Frank Miniter and Dean Reuter. The author series is complimentary to the public and gives attendees the opportunity to meet and purchase the authors book, along with a cash bar.
Dean Reuter: Reuter is co-author of The Hidden Nazi: The Untold Story of America’s Deal with the Devil. The worst Nazi war criminal you’ve never heard of. Guests are invited to Macy’s Metro Center to celebrate the magic of the holiday season at its annual window unveiling. Customers will experience an evening of cheer at Macy’s Holiday Market featuring festive shopping, treats, live entertainment, and a special appearance by Santa who will reveal this year’s themed windows. The evening will include musical performances by Natasha Bedingfield and other surprise guests with more fun inside for the little ones where they can enjoy arts and crafts and take a photo with Santa.
The theme of this year’s windows is “Believe In The Wonder.” The six windows located on G Street will be centered on the joy of sharing holiday season festivities with those we love. Generations of visitors will find variations of their own holiday traditions mirrored in the windows; each featuring a cast of enchanting characters sharing the spirit of the season in Washington, D.C.
