Career Contessa, the only career site built specifically for women, and Trunk Club, a personal styling service, are teaming up for the second time on an epic event series, “Women Who Mean Business,” with this year’s focus on female leadership.
The events will take place Trunk Club Washington D.C. (May 16), and and will feature empowered women celebrating their careers through a night of panel discussions, networking, and other career focused advice.
Last year’s inspiring panel speakers included female leaders from some of the country’s most
buzzworthy and influential brands, including Instagram, Cupcakes and Cashmere and Dollar
Shave Club. This year, the panel will feature powerful women from Google, Beauty Bioscience,
Joss & Main and, of course, Career Contessa, who will explore topics such as how to build
resilience as a leader, serve as a mentor to other women, and cultivate effective teams through
insight from real women’s experiences.
Beyond the panel discussion, the night will be an ideal opportunity for attendees to connect with
likeminded women through curated networking sessions and mutual inspiration. Guests can expect professional photographers on hand to take LinkedIn headshots, as well plenty of foodie-
friendly treats, delicious drinks, and a surprise gift for the first 50 attendees.
“Last year, we met countless, inspiring women with powerful stories to tell so we’re beyond
thrilled to bring back this in-person experience focused on female leadership with our partner,
Trunk Club” said Lauren McGoodwin, CEO & founder of Career Contessa.
“We’re thrilled to continue our partnership with Career Contessa, working toward our common
goal of inspiring and empowering female leaders” said Jill Lynn of Trunk Club. “Last year brought
about a wave of positive conversation, and we look forward to continuing the dialogue again this
year with the Women Who Mean Business series.”
“Women Who Mean Business: A Night for Women Leaders—And
Leaders to Be,” will take place at Trunk Club’s Washington D.C. Clubhouse (525 9th St NW
#700, Washington, DC 20004) on May 16, 2018.
Washington Redskins teammates — cornerback Josh Norman and tight end Vernon Davis — announce that they will co-host the fifth annual White Party benefiting the Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater Washington (BGCGW) and Norman’s Starz24 Foundation.
The highly anticipated summer soiree, originated by former Redskins player Pierre Garçon and with a head-to-toe all-white dress code, is taking place on Saturday, June 2 at Decades (1219 Connecticut Avenue NW). The sleekly-decorated rooftop boasts palm trees, tropical plants and greenery-covered privacy walls across the 2,500-square foot space, making for the perfect backdrop for the evening.
Local pro athletes, NFL executives, community leaders and Washington VIPs will rub elbows for a good cause, helping to raise money for BGCGW and Starz24 that will foster a new generation of innovative and talented future leaders nationwide.
“As a native Washingtonian, I have always wanted the best for my city, so giving back in this way is personally important for me,” says Davis. “It feels amazing knowing that our event will help make dreams come true for some of Washington’s best and brightest kids.”
“My Starz24 Foundation is all about developing future skills in our young people and the White Party will help us widen that reach,” adds Norman. “When Vernon and I talked about teaming up to make this event a reality, I knew we could have a real impact by working together.”
The White Party will feature a premium open bar, passed hors d’oeuvres donated by Barcode and a live auction.
With the help of top sponsors, Norman and Davis look forward to a night of fun and fundraising for BGCGW and Starz24 Foundation and the important work they do. Tickets are available for $100-$150 and can be purchased at https://www.

DC women will soon be able to get their hands on the bra that Vogue called “the most comfortable bra you will ever wear.” On Thursday, November 15 from 7 to 9 pm, Adams Morgan event space BUREAU is hosting a pop-up event to showcase Underbares, a local undergarments company that allows women to prioritize both femininity and function when selecting bras.
Founded by Genevieve Gralton, the product was designed with coral-patterned stretch lace for a standard amount of coverage, combined with nylon and elastic to ensure the fit of every woman’s shape. The construction of the garment challenges traditional bra structures, eliminating stiff underwire and strap adjusters and instead creating thicker support directly underneath the chest. (Potential consumers who are immediately scared off by the reduced underwire and lack of a strap adjuster will be pleased to learn that Underbares’ most popular size is L) Underbares available for purchase during the pop up will include sizing XS through L, and hues in black, white and for the first time ever: nude.
As women shop these life-changing bras, they can enjoy unlimited handcrafted, preservative-free cocktails, by TRUE Syrups & Garnishes. Guests are also encouraged to bring gently used bras to donate to I Support the Girls, a local organization dedicated to restore dignity and self-respect to women. Tickets are $15, with $5 from each ticket going towards I Support the Girls. Tickets are available through Eventbrite here.
