[Vid] Inside Our Pet-Friendly Stay at the Hilton Alexandria Mark Center

So close to DC, but historic in its own right, Alexandria is having a moment. And if you, friends, or relatives are looking to experience the area, we’ve found a great place to base your stay. Bonus — it’s pet-friendly!

Located on the West End of historic Alexandria, adjacent to the Winkler Botanical Preserve and minutes from Old Town Alexandria on a serene lake surrounded by landscaped gardens, the Hilton Alexandria Mark Center is a 35-story hotel with over 400 guest rooms and some surprises to be found.

While many locals know it for its ample event space, which is perfect for business conferences, industry events, galas, and weddings, the newly renovated property is also sitting pretty for vacay (and staycay!) visitors who want all of the best Hilton amenities and some local perks.

In particular, we found five unexpected offerings that really made our stay special.

First, we didn’t expect an art gallery. That’s right, a partnership with the Torpedo Factory translates into a private art exhibit right in the hotel lobby. The next unveiling takes place this Spring with new pieces on rotation.

There is also an extensive coffee/sandwich shop and convenience market. The on-site store has just about everything you need whether you’ve got the munchies, need a caffeine fix, or if you forgot something — like a charger or another essential. Here you can even find gifts and treats from local Alexandria Businesses.

It’s close enough to the city, but should you get here and realize that you actually do need a car, it’s possible to rent one on the property! There is also convenient on-site parking, which is always a boon.

While it might be tough to tear yourself away from your Hilton hotel room and its comfy bed, the lobby lounge of the Hilton Alexandria Mark Center is actually a popular hangout spot — like, a destination Happy Hour spot! There is, adjacent to the lobby, the fine-dining Finn and Porter restaurant, but we suggest you post up to the omakase counter where an award-winning itamae rolls out sashimi and exotic sushi creations (or you can customize your own ramen dish).  The Hilton Alexandria Mark Center’s is one of few sushi restaurants in Alexandria and it has a high-end selection of saké, along with Japanese beer options as well.

And then there’s all of the beautiful natural scenery surrounding the Hilton Alexandria Mark Center, which is almost unheard of in a DC-area hotel like this! After a day of meetings or sightseeing, you and your pet will surely enjoy unwinding here.
