Kate Michael, @kstreetkate, is a Writer/Model/On-Camera Host and Event Emcee. Notable as the Founder and current Editor-At-Large of K Street Magazine, Kate started the site while serving as Miss District of Columbia 2006 and competing in Miss America (2007). Currently, Kate works as a professional spokesperson and model, walking the runway for such industry icons as Valentino, Derek Lam, Naeem Kahn and Oscar de la Renta. It’s late March, the Cherry Blossoms – and cupcakes – are in full bloom!


In honor of the National Cherry Blossom Festival, local cupcakeries are creating their own cheery cherry mini cakes.  CRUMBS Bake Shop, originally a masterpiece of Manhattan, introduced its new Cherry Blossom cupcake this week: tempting vanilla cake, filled with cherry preserves, and frosted with vanilla cherry cream cheese. Tasty – and no trekking through all of the tourists!!  But just like those blossoms, these sweet bites are available for a limited time (until April 10th).


15% of sales proceeds from the Cherry Blossom cupcakes to the Red Cross’s Japan Earthquake and Pacific Tsunami Fund on behalf of the National Cherry Blossom Festival.  Sweet!
