Kate Michael, @kstreetkate, is a Writer/Model/On-Camera Host and Event Emcee. Notable as the Founder and current Editor-At-Large of K Street Magazine, Kate started the site while serving as Miss District of Columbia 2006 and competing in Miss America (2007). Currently, Kate works as a professional spokesperson and model, walking the runway for such industry icons as Valentino, Derek Lam, Naeem Kahn and Oscar de la Renta. Her media portfolio includes a spread in Elle magazine and features on Inside Edition and BBC World News’ “The Real Cities” series. You’ll catch her interviewing guests on DC’s NewChannel8′s Let’s Talk Live and showcasing products on BestBuy.com, as well as work appearing on NBC, Fox, Comcast and local print publications.

Talk Teal

Thursday evening at Muleh, everyone was talking.  Talk Teal, an artistic event put on by the AprilMay Foundation encouraged attendees to create a conversation around sexual abuse.

Shocking artistic images were interspersed with the furniture and fashion decor of the 14th Street showroom, and models in bodysuits printed with words describing the feelings of victims roamed amongst the guests as they sipped, shopped and spoke about this often unvocalized issue.

Christopher Reiter, Juleanna Glover, Cheryl Romero, Roy Heisler, Cindy Jones and Allison Brooks were among those who joined AprilMay’s April Richardson and Michele Swinson to wear the teal ribbon, symbol of the cause.

Donations made at the event serve to support various sexual abuse programs and continue a candid discussion of the issue and its resolution. Talk about it.
