4000+ Lbs of Ocean Trash Collected at Annual Coastal Cleanup

Volunteers found some really bizarre trash at Ocean Conservancy’s annual International Coastal Cleanup on Kingman and Heritage Island!

Everything — from the usual (and lamentable) plastic, wrappers, and cigarette butts to a bicycle, a vacuum, a Betamax player, a machete, multiple tires, and an Adirondack chair — was dragged out of the water in the span of an afternoon.

Nearly 400 volunteers collected more than 4,000 pounds of trash on ICC’s flagship cleanup this year. Every year, ICC’s events remove millions of pounds of trash across over 15,000 miles of coastline globally.
