Lennon Gives Tribute to “Lucy in the Sky”

Julian Lennon, son of Beatles‘ legend John Lennon, revealed the inspiration for the famous “Lucy in the Sky” song Wednesday evening at the Lupus Foundation’s annual Butterfly Gala.  Lucy, a former schoolmate of young Julian, lost her battle with Lupus late last year, as Lennon and James Scott Cook were preparing to enter the recording studio.

Performing the tribute song they recorded for Julian’s Lucy — as well as James’s Grandmother Lucy who is also battling Lupus — the pair were present at the Mellon Auditorium to promote a cure or side-affect-free-treatment for the illness and unveil of a new research grant on behalf of the Foundation.

“For all of the Lucy’s we’ve loved, that we know, and for Lupus,” said Lennon.
