Komen Young Professionals Show their Feathers at Peacock

The Komen Young Professionals Initiative held a cocktail event at Peacock Cafe in Georgetown Thursday night.  Hosted by Ashley Taylor – and with special guest Ambassador Nancy Brinker in attendance – the young group showed their support for the cause.

And it was a big day for Ambassador Brinker who had been in the media earlier that day to discuss new early stage screenings guidelines put forward by the The American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists (ACOG) – the same guidelines that Komen has been advocating for years.

We asked the Ambassador: Would earlier detection have made things different for her sister, Susan? “We both had breast cancer – very aggressive breast cancer – and mine was detected earlier. But times were very different then, so I’m not sure. I do think that she would have lived longer. For sure, she would have lived longer.”
