In the Bag!

Stuff we all get. That’s what swag means. Those goody bags filled with products, paper discounts, and promotional merchandise that we covet at the end of every good party. Truly, some are better than others.

What is the purpose of swag? We think it’s to congratulate us on our attendance and thank us for spending oodles on event admission. But actually, the plan is to get product samples into the hands of trendsetters, who may then buy the product again – or recommend it to friends!

To show how fabulous swag can really be, the American Marketing Association is throwing the first annual SWAG BASH, Dec. 9 7-10 PM at Fly Lounge, in conjunction with DC Magazine, K Street Kate and Goodwill of Greater Washington ($20 AMA Members, $35 non-members). We’re talkin’ mega merchandise and the chance to sample products and services from across the region.

Enjoy heavy hors d’oeuvres, a free drink ticket, lots of drink specials, spinning by DJ DirtyHands, door prizes… and that swag bag. In this case, it’s not “stuff we ALL get,” it’s stuff we ATTENDEES get.” Don’t miss out!
