Fashion Has a Night Out Despite the Rain

If it didn’t meet expectations, it wasn’t because shoppers were poor, but rather because they couldn’t handle the pour!  The deluge that hit the Washingon area, creating flooding and other disasterous situations, did not respond to the prayers of some 105 Geogetown businesses participating in the city’s official Fashion’s Night Out Thursday.

Instead of surpassing sales goals in its second year, FNO ’11 featured
pedicabs dodging puddles, re-organized flash (flood) mobs, and lots and lots of umbrellas, rain boots, and fashionably frizzy hairdos.
Despite the raindrops, the shops still stayed open late, offered exceptional specials and did re-energize some consumers to buy.  The event’s “Get Hitched in Georgetown” competition, Foto DC photobooths and L2 Lounge kick-off party (sponsored by Capital File magazine) were some of the best attended.
*Did you get rained out?  Take a rain check! Select vendors will continue offering FNO specials throughout the weekend.
