As many people know, life is always sweeter when you have a great mentor or buddy by your side. Best Buddies Virginia is packaging the buddy, sweet and mentor and presenting Life is Sweet on Tuesday, April 8, 2014, a culinary tasting event, while raising funds to support the Best Buddies programs.  Title sponsor CSC will host the event at their headquarters located at 3170 Fairview Park Drive in Falls Church, Virginia from 6:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m.

Guests will have the opportunity to taste savory treats and decadent desserts created by many of the top local chefs in the area. Each chef has been partnered with a Best Buddies participant and will showcase their treat during the evening’s event. This event provides a wonderful example of work life opportunities that exist in our community and empowers people with intellectual and developmental disabilities.

“This is one of my favorite events of the year,” said Life is Sweet Chair Chef Susan Wallace of BlackSalt. “I really enjoy sharing my passion of pastry with my Chef Buddy and shining a light on such a worthy cause. This year I will be working with Lauren Hyer.”

“CSC is pleased to support and contribute to the mission of Best Buddies International,” said Shari Davis, CSC’s Director of Diversity, Philanthropy and Community Relations. “CSC has a long history of civic engagement, particularly as it relates to the disability community.  We are honored for the opportunity to continue that involvement by hosting Life is Sweet for the second year.”

Guests will have the opportunity to taste many of the delicious partner creations with participating chefs and restaurants that include: District Commons and Chef Chris Hutcheson, Eurest Catering and Chef James Foley, Art Institute of Washington and Chef Carlo Figarella, Willow and Chef Kate Jansen, The Swiss Bakery and Chef Laurie Weber as well as Black’s Restaurant Group Chef Susan Wallace to name a few.  Also a highlight of the evening are both the silent and live auctions that will be taking place at 8:00 pm. The auctions will feature restaurant certificates, sports memorabilia, a once in a lifetime bed and breakfast experience in Southwest France, an Apartment in Buenos Aires, and an in home cooking demo by Executive Pastry Chef Susan Wallace and Westin National Harbor Executive Chef George Fassiadis for up to 6 guests.

Tommy McFly host of 94.7 FM will be the emcee for the night and Miss District of Columbia USA Ciera Nicole Butts and Miss District of Columbia Teen USA Dominick Fink will be there to support the cause.
