Down to earth Ling takes us all over the globe

Lisa Ling would tell you there is no “single other show on television that really explores as far reaching a world and assignments and stories as this show does.”  She might also tell you there’s marijuana in the anniversary cake – but not this time!

Explorer, the longest-running documentary series on cable television, which takes viewers to “places they would never have imagined going,” according to Ling, boasts nearly 1,500 hours of programming (on all seven continents!) that have aired in the last quarter century.

Tuesday evening, National Geographic and Capitol File magazine hosted a screening of select scenes of the two hour anniversary “introspective” showcasing Explorer’s unprecedented access, historic discoveries… and even Ling’s coverage of  “Inside North Korea,” a topic to which she didn’t anticipate returning until her sister’s remarkable ordeal.

While Explorer doesn’t turn the cameras on Washington, DC, Ling suggests her own take on taxicab confessions Capitol-style and is collecting ideas for her own show, on Oprah’s network, currently in the works.

Explorer: 25 Years will air on Monday, April 19th at 9 PM.
