Dining Destination: Harvey’s in Falls Church

DC’s dining options are plentiful, but sometimes a short drive (or metro ride) can take you to new great tastes!

Earlier this month, Chef/Owner Thomas Harvey debuted his much-awaited new restaurant, Harvey’s, at 513 W. Broad Street in Falls Church, Virginia. Harvey sharpened his knives working for top chefs in the nation’s capital, including James Beard award-winners Frank Ruta at Palena and Fabio Trabbochi at Casa Luca Restaurant. But now he helms his own place, serving American fare in one of the Commonwealth’s unique and historic cities close to DC.

Chef Harvey makes use of his restaurant’s fire oven for menu tempters like the Cedar Plank Salmon, with hot honey roasted root vegetables, fennel, and Cippolini chutney. We highly recommend the Porter Braised Seven Hills Beef Short Ribs, served with parmesan polenta, mushrooms, and green beans.

On the smaller side, the 48-seat main dining room and 12-seat beer and wine bar, are sure to be a neighborhood gathering place for daily breakfast, lunch, dinner, and weekend brunch. And there is also a retail market to come, highlighting specialty items that are signature to Chef Harvey’s restaurant pantry as well as prepared foods that are packaged to grab and go.

Harvey’s will serve wine and beer for in-house consumption and for take-away. Also, look into Harvey’s monthly wine club!
