DC Magazine and MyHelsinki

Also on Friday evening, pre-Nerd Prom, DC Magazine in collaboration with David Sutphen of the Brunswick Group invited guests to the Finnish Embassy to preview the release of the newest issue and view an exhibition which looks at Helsinki through the eyes of 12 talented Washingtonians.

The idea of MyHelsinki was to start a dialogue with interesting DCers and their Helsinki peers to foster a sister-city relationship and perhaps create future long-term collaboration.

Guests sipped cocktails and sampled hors d’oeuvres in a Finnish forest where the trees grew from the Helsinki experiences of twelve of Washington’s biggest talents including jazz musician and music advocate Davey Yarborough, Dr. Marta Palacios, principal of Bruce-Monroe Elementary and bi-lingual education pioneer, chef and organic food advocate Nora Pouillion, and architect and philosopher Travis Price.

You, too, can experience Helsinki at the Finnish Embassy through May 31. And check for K Street Kate’s event photos (coming soon!) on Flickr.
