Saturday night at the Kennedy Center, Metro DC’s premier contemporary dance company, Bowen McCauley Dance, created a sensation of collaboration, combining Lucy Bowen McCauley‘s renowned choreography with live musical performance accompaniment, dimensional design and even a poignant and poetic spoken word by guest artist Rita Dove.
Not necessarily the performance for those looking for the beautiful lines of the ballet, but definitely an experience of rhythm, movement and contrast, Bowen McCauley, now in it’s 15th season, is a truly modern performance art.
From Ozone‘s soul searching sequences to Telemetry, with accompanying music composed and performed by Tone, literally rocking the audience into submission, the anniversary evening’s hallmark pieces indicate a professional company which is not just one to enjoy, but truly, one to watch.
