Ball on the Mall

Friday night’s Ball on the Mall celebration was a unique fundraiser to help the Trust for the National Mall’s efforts to restore and preserve our nation’s front yard. This inaugural event, hosted by the L’Enfant Society committee to include John Cecchi, Tripp Donnelly, John Akridge IV, George Chopivsky, Emily Coccaro, Sarah Knutson, Heather Guay and so many others raised more than $150,000 toward the repair of thirty years of neglect for the park and new educational programming to share the mall’s rich history.

The L’Enfant Society is the younger accompaniment to the larger Trust for the National Mall, which has delivered funds to the National Park Service in a dollar-for-dollar match for federal commitments since the Trust’s inception in 1997.

Ball on the Mall, themed “A Fete in Hoor of Pierre L’Enfant, Designer of the National Mall” seemed a roaring twenties tent party, complete with swing band and vintage inspired cocktails: Great Gatsby-esque. Jimmy Rayborn and guest drew an audience to the dancefloor, while the women attracted their own attention in gowns such as Jenn Millard’s sweeping white number and Kristen Irish’s fancy floral.
