Kate Michael, @kstreetkate, is a Writer/Model/On-Camera Host and Event Emcee. Notable as the Founder and current Editor-At-Large of K Street Magazine, Kate started the site while serving as Miss District of Columbia 2006 and competing in Miss America (2007). Currently, Kate works as a professional spokesperson and model, walking the runway for such industry icons as Valentino, Derek Lam, Naeem Kahn and Oscar de la Renta. Wednesday night at the National Zoo, quirky party band extraordinaire — The B-52s — headlined the first-ever Rock’n’Roar concert fundraiser for the Friends of the National Zoo. 
Singing “Love Shack” and other wildly popular tunes, but sporting no beehives to rile up the bears, concert proceeds supported animal care, conservation science, education, and sustainability programs at the Zoo.
