A Walk Through History & Design: The 92nd Annual Georgetown House Tour Returns April 26
Each spring, Washingtonians and design lovers from across the country flock to one of DC’s most beloved traditions: the Georgetown House Tour. Now in its 92nd year, this storied event—hosted by St. John’s Episcopal Church—returns on Saturday, April 26, 2025, offering an exclusive glimpse inside some of Georgetown’s most architecturally and historically significant homes.
Believed to be the oldest and most prestigious house tour in the country, the Georgetown House Tour attracts more than 1,800 guests annually. It’s a unique opportunity to wander through a curated collection of historic homes, each with its own tale to tell—where classic Federal exteriors meet bold interior design, and centuries-old craftsmanship blends seamlessly with modern updates.
A Self-Guided Journey Through Time
This year’s tour begins at St. John’s Episcopal Church at 3240 O Street NW, where attendees will receive the official House Tour Magazine—a booklet that serves as both ticket and guide. Complete with historic notes and an interactive map, the magazine leads visitors through a self-guided exploration of Georgetown’s most coveted addresses.
Among the homes featured on this year’s tour:
- 3039 M Street NW, also known as the Loughborough House, is the current home of the Junior League of Washington. Built in the early 1800s, this property has worn many hats—bank, store, law office, and home—and boasts a rich legacy meticulously restored to its Federal roots.
- 3406 N Street NW, now the home of interior designer Jodi Macklin, showcases a moody, modern palette against the backdrop of an 1873 structure.
- 3420 N Street NW, owned by Tyler Crockett, offers Parisian-inspired opulence with intricate moldings and garden spaces modeled after the Luxembourg Gardens.
- 3327 N Street NW, part of the original “Cox Row” built by War of 1812 veteran and former Georgetown mayor John Cox, delights with stained glass kitchen windows reclaimed from a church.
- Other highlights include a wisteria-draped garden, a gallery-like open floor plan, and a cleverly designed dumbwaiter linking kitchen to garden—each property an inspired balance of past and present.
Homes will be open from 11 am to 5 pm, and all guests are invited to enjoy The Parish Tea in Blake Hall at St. John’s Church between 1:30 pm and 4:30 pm. With a spread of tea sandwiches, lemonade, and desserts lovingly prepared by parishioners and community partners, the tea offers a charming pause in the day’s adventure.
The Grandeur of Giving Back
Beyond its architectural splendor, the Georgetown House Tour is deeply rooted in community outreach. Proceeds support St. John’s ministries and a wide range of local and international human service organizations—from supporting homeless adults and seniors in D.C. to aiding communities in Jerusalem and Honduras.
Founded in 1796, St. John’s Episcopal Church has long been a cornerstone of Georgetown history, with founders such as President Thomas Jefferson and Francis Scott Key. The church continues to evolve while maintaining its commitment to both faith and community service.

Special Events Leading Up to the Tour
The week leading up to the House Tour is just as exciting, with a calendar of elegant events designed to celebrate stewardship, preservation, and design innovation.
On Wednesday, April 23, the Patron’s Party kicks off the festivities with an evening of cocktails and hors d’oeuvres at the Larz Anderson House on Massachusetts Avenue. Originally conceived by longtime Georgetown volunteer Frida Burling, this soirée is a beloved tradition in its own right.
The following evening, on Thursday, April 24, B&B Italia will host an intimate cocktail event and design panel at their three-level showroom on M Street. The panel—moderated by showroom manager Melvin Hooks—features top minds in architecture, interiors, and landscape design, discussing the timely themes of Stewardship, Preservation, and the Evolution of Modern Living.
