GAIA Supperclub Brings Global Glamour to Downtown DC

At the corner of Vermont Avenue and worldly indulgence, GAIA Supperclub has strutted into the scene. This new entry into DC’s fine-dining and nightlife landscape is inspired by the supper clubs of Mykonos, Dubai, and Saint-Tropez… designed to evolve over the course of the evening by starting with a seated dinner and transitioning into a vibrant lounge atmosphere with DJs, dancers, and musicians.

Tucked into a sophisticated 70-seat space near McPherson Square, GAIA delivers a lush, sensorial fusion of Mediterranean and Latin cuisine, upscale mixology, and live entertainment that transforms the traditional dinner service into something theatrical.

Dancers just may emerge between courses. Musicians play. DJs spin. Cocktails shimmer. And the food? Designed by award-winning chef Sammy Davis — known locally for soulful, southern plates — the food surprises with both visual interest and bold flavor.

Davis’s menu offers globe-spanning whimsy with an unmistakably luxe DC twist. The intrigue of the appetizer menu are the Chicken Nuggets: topped with crème fraîche, caviar, and flakes of 24-karat edible gold — less bar snack, more statement. For a group-ready showstopper, the 2.5-pound Tomahawk Ribeye is served with truffle butter, chimichurri, and a bold tiger sauce, a carnivore’s indulgence cloaked in ceremony. But the most popular dish appears to be the Lobster Pasta… dozens were delivered to patrons throughout the night we visited!

Behind the concept is a team that knows how to generate buzz — and deliver. Co-owners Wayne Johnson and Tony Perry have long defined DC’s nightlife narrative through ventures like Saint Yves and Abigail. Their recent viral café concept, Llamabar, proved their ability to merge hospitality and social media magnetism. Here, with international hospitality expert Mele Melton and tech entrepreneur Johannes Dzidzienyo on board, the team turns its focus toward fusing refined dining with luxe lounging.

“It’s been my dream to create a restaurant like this,” said Melton. “GAIA is more than a restaurant — it’s a passport to the world.”

Whether you come for the late-night vibe or arrive early to savor the meal, GAIA offers a new kind of evening out in DC —less buttoned-up prix fixe, more fluid indulgence. And with service running Tuesday through Sunday from 5 pm to 1 am, it’s poised to be a go-to for everything from a celebratory night out to an elevated date night with after-hours flair.

GAIA Supperclub is located at 1025 Vermont Avenue NW. Reservations recommended.
