Will on the Hill

Huge thank you to Pamela Sorensen for introducing me to the Shakespeare Theatre Company’s Will on the Hill series, and tonight’s “A Midsession Night’s Dream” to benefit the artistic, education and community outreach programs of the Shakespeare Theatre Company.

A crazy cast of characters, including Congresswoman Eleanor Holmes Norton, Senator Roger Wicker, WJLA‘s Gordon Peterson, Dan Glickman of the Motion Picture Association, NBC‘s Chuck Todd, and Susan Nixon of Capitol File, acted out a version of “A Midsummer Night’s Dream” in which a Capitol Hill staffer used Shakespeare’s words as a bridge between partisan differences.

An overall “roast” of the political process, the play served to show that words can truly express what one feels inside, and that, expressed correctly, even those on opposite sides of the aisle may sometimes agree.

The play was followed by a reception in the Harman Center’s lobby.
