On August 18, Legacy DC, an art-focused retail space and cultural hub in the heart of the U Street corridor, is welcoming Henley Bounkhong, or Golden Rabbit Silent Monkey, for a special exhibit of “Pain, Passion, Pen and Paper.” Curated by Syreeta Mack of No Kings Collective, the gallery will be filled with Bounkhong’s work of “pain, passion, pen and paper” until September 30.
Bounkhong — who specializes in ballpoint pen illustrations, mural paintings, and digital art that are never planned or premeditated — draws inspiration from Asian cultures, Buddhist imagery, cartoons & anime, graffiti, and street art.
“I never think about what I should create. I simply empty my mind, find my inner peace & then during that moment, whatever shows up becomes captured and solidified into reality,” explained Bounkhong.
The opening event is on August 18 from 7-10pm and will include a meet and greet with Bounkhong, complimentary drinks and gifts.
