WACA’s Silver Celebration

In a city that’s increasingly striving to define its tastemakers, the profession of Concierge is ultimately important. They are the ones in the know. The ones who direct you to where you want to be. We salute that! And so we salute WACA’s 400+ members and 50 hotels.

The Washington Area Concierge Association celebrated 25 years of serving as DC’s Ambassadors tonight with a Silver Celebration Gala at the Four Seasons Hotel. In a nod to this year’s outgoing WACA President, the universally loved Jeff Morgan, concierge extraordinaire at the Four Seasons, the Georgetown hotel hosted the 25th year anniversary event which featured three young scholarship recipients and supported three local charities.

Abdul Hafeez (Northern Virginia Community College), Salim Khan (George Mason University) and Jennifer Ryniker (James Madison University) are all studying Hotel/Hospitality Management and have much to learn from the collection of distinguished Concierges at the event, which represented the choicest accommodations in the city.

Besides the food and live music, entertainment at the event centered around a “Chinese” style auction… mostly of fabulous stays at area hotels. Our favorite prize, however, a bike, was surprisingly won by the bidder who had the least distance to ride it! Yep, that would be a concierge at the Four Seasons!

More on this event and WACA in my write up in next month’s DC Magazine.
