Veteran Affairs’ Tammy Duckworth Gets Taken Back to Iraq w/ Wartorn

Heros.  Tammy Duckworth is one – a double amputee, Army National Guard officer, former Illinois Congressional Candidate and now, Assistant Secretary of Defense for Public and Intergovernmental Affairs.  Woah.  And that’s what she thought about HBO’s documentary “Wartorn: 1861-2010” which debuted at the Pentagon Thursday night and will be released to the public on the eve of Veteran’s Day.

“Wartorn” (Exec. Prod. James Gandolfini) shows the history of post-tramatic distress disorder (PTSD) from the Civil War until today, a topic for which every America soldier – and hero – has his/her own personal story.

“We need to make sure that we take care of all of their wounds, whether they’re visible like mine or hidden,” Duckworth shared.  “I do not have post-traumatic stress disorder, but I did watch the movie… and dreamt about Iraq that night.”
