Kate Michael, @kstreetkate, is a Writer/Model/On-Camera Host and Event Emcee. Notable as the Founder and current Editor-At-Large of K Street Magazine, Kate started the site while serving as Miss District of Columbia 2006 and competing in Miss America (2007). Currently, Kate works as a professional spokesperson and model, walking the runway for such industry icons as Valentino, Derek Lam, Naeem Kahn and Oscar de la Renta. Her media portfolio includes a spread in Elle magazine and features on Inside Edition and BBC World News’ “The Real Cities” series. I promised Victoria Michael some great country tunes if she would accompany me to hear Toby Keith speak at a luncheon at the National Press Club today. I didn’t deliver. TK didn’t sing a note. (Dolly did!)

What TK did do was a lot of talking about how the media misrepresented his songwriting intentions and didn’t give him due credit for his work with the USO… completely unpaid work which he does because his Father was a serviceman, and though Toby never served, he has ultimate respect for those who make sacrifices for our freedoms.

He’ll be leaving in a day or two on an 11 day tour to entertain the troops with almost 25 unique concert performances.

Even with coaxing we couldn’t get a few bars of “Courtesy of the Red, White and Blue” out of him, but we did get this quip… “I’m not sorry I wrote the song. Not sorry I’m patriotic. And I never apologize.”
