Take My Picture!

FOTOWEEK – it’s a weeklong photographic festival in the Nation’s Capital that celebrates the power of photography… what’s that they say about a picture being worth a thousand words? We found out today that you can enter to be a part of the festival. And your picture can be worth much more than a thousand words… or even a thousand dollars!

As last year, FotoWeek is offering an awards competition in addition to the exhibition. Open to everyone, from professionals to amateurs to students, entrants will have the chance to have their works shown in the FotoWeek exhibit space and online, andpublished in the 2010 limited edition FOTOWEEK book! Oh yeah… and there’s more than $21,000 in cash and award prizes!!

Here’s the distinguished panel who will judge the works: Joyce Tenneson, David Alan Harvey, Simon Bruty, Paula Lerner, photo editors Alice Gabriner of the White House, Dan Westergren and Gail Fisher of National Geographic, RuthEichhorn of German Geo, Bonnie Stutskiof Smithsonian Magazine, and collectorTony Podesta of Washington DC. Entry deadline July 26th… winners announced September 13th andrecognized at the FotoWeek DC Awards ceremony to be held at the National Geographic Society’s Headquarters on Thursday, November 5, 2009.
