Reveling in Rickey

Mixologists Derek Brown, Garrett Peck and the DC Craft Bartender’s Guild channeled barman George A. Williamson from the 1880s Sunday night, pouring variations of what Missouri Colonel Joe Rickey once called “air conditioning in a glass” — that famed combination of bourbon, carbonated water and half a lime sqeezed and dropped into… the Rickey.
Earlier in the week, the Rickey was proclaimed the native cocktail of Washington, DC, and to celebrate its comeback, socials gathered at the JW Marriott’s 1331 Bar Sunday night (which stands on the site of the birthplace of the Rickey, Shoomaker’s Bar) to taste Williamson and Col. Rickey’s famed libation and its cocktail cousins.

Among those sampling the sips were DC Congresswoman Eleanor Holmes Norton, Brandlink’s Jayne Sandman, and Fresh FM’s Tommy McFly.
1331 will continueto serve Rickey’s at half price throughout the month!
