Reclaiming a Marathon Monopoly

The 5th annual Suntrust National Marathon took race enthusiasts through 6 of DC’s 8 wards on Saturday.

12,000 registrants coming from 49 states and seven countries, and including seven contestants on past seasons of NBC’s “The Biggest Loser,”  couldn’t keep Arlington’s Michael Wardian from being the first to cross the finish line… again.

Only once in the race’s five year history has the local marathoner missed a gold medal.  In 2009, Patrick Moulton, who placed second this year, beat Wardian to the finish.
