Oxfords and Oysters

While crabs get most of the glory in Maryland, this past Saturday, Baltimore’s young professionals went overboard for ‘Oxfords and Oysters.’
Gathering in support of the Oyster Recovery Partnership, a non-profit dedicated to sustaining the oyster population in the Chesapeake Bay, attendees ate oysters, recycled their oyster shells for use in the Chesapeake and listened to Dewey Beach favorite band Burnt Sienna.
Oysters are a critical species to the Bay’s long term recovery according to Jennifer Grove, one of the organizers of the event.  A healthy oyster reef not only cleans dirty water, but also provides a

firm bed for a community of new oysters – and furnishes a valuable habitat for those glorious blue crabs!
