Miss DC Contestants Put On Fashion Show Fundraiser

Because ‘world peace’ is a great concept, but children’s health may be a more attainable cause…

In addition to her individual platform, each contestant in Miss America is responsible for assisting in the pageant’s fundraising partnership with Children’s National Medical Center. Many of the contestants in the Miss District of Columbia pageant, which will take place June 23, 2019 at Arena Stage, volunteered to take place in an inaugural fashion fundraiser for CNMC last Thursday night (4/25/19) at Signature in Georgetown.

Launched by Faith Jackson, a Miss DC contestants who rallied support from her competitors, the event was an organic effort to practice the fashion and grace that are going to be necessary on the pageant stage, while also raising those essential funds toward the common cause.

Each lady walked the runway three times in fashions from Signature of Georgetown, once in a cocktail dress and twice in an evening gown of her choice. At a reception after the main event, guests were invited to peruse the store to shop for upcoming special occasions, like the Miss DC pageant coming up in June.

Among those in the audience were friends and family of the contestants, Gilda Mizrahi (owner of Signature), Kathy Luu (owner of SpaLogic), and Tricia Lloyd (Miss DC 1988). Don Mike, Man of the District, happened to be in the audience to plug the pageant’s other annual CNM fundraiser, which will be happening on May 9th.
