Kate Michael, @kstreetkate, is a Writer/Model/On-Camera Host and Event Emcee. Notable as the Founder and current Editor-At-Large of K Street Magazine, Kate started the site while serving as Miss District of Columbia 2006 and competing in Miss America (2007). Currently, Kate works as a professional spokesperson and model, walking the runway for such industry icons as Valentino, Derek Lam, Naeem Kahn and Oscar de la Renta. Michelle Rhee: “It’s ok to be hated.”

 “If people want warm and fuzzy then they have the wrong gal,” said Michelle Rhee, Chancellor if DC Public Schools, who continues to stir strong emotion with her unprecedented actions to ameliorate the city public school system.

“It is ok to be hated,” she told crowds at Bisnow’s Where Do Women Stand event Thursday.  “I am fighting the status quo…  I want to make DC public schools the best in the nation.  I want it to be hard for people to tell what student came from what DC public school — because the test scores will be high across all the wards.”
