“Camp Freddy.  Washington, DC.  For the first time.  I’m in!”  Sugar Ray’s Mark McGrath yelled to the crowd as he took to the stage with the rock cover band for a private performance at DC’s 9:30 Club Thursday night.

McGrath joined special guest Sebastian Bach (Skid Row) with Camp Freddy members Donovan Lietch, Dave Navarro, Matt Sorum, Chris Chaney and Billy Morrison to play over an hour of classic rock jams for an audience comprised largely of Capital Hill staff and those who lobby them.

The event served as a benefit for Rivers of Recovery, raising over $70,000 for the veterans rehabilitation program, and was the band’s inaugural experience in the Nation’s Capital.

While in Washington, the rock legends also enjoyed a private tour of the White House, which McGrath found especially entertaining.

“Well, I mean, it’s the White House.  But it ain’t Charlie Sheen’s house.”
