Let’s Go to the Movies

Washington film buffs who appreciate movies with edge and international flair have much to look forward to this spring as Filmfest DC: The Washington, DC International Film Festival kicks off its 25th annual celebration of cinema on April 7.

From the Film: Mozart’s Sister

Films from a different geographic region are chosen each year, providing diversity to the reel.  For 2011, International Film Festival Director Anthony Gittens went across the Atlantic to Scandinavia, choosing the theme “Nordic Lights: The Old and the New.” But every genre and culture is represented, including highly anticipated favorites Young Goethe in Love, a German flick about the famed writer’s amorous life and the French costume drama Mozart’s Sister, about the composer’s lesser known sibling.

The cinemania kicks off with a gala at the Lincoln Theatre hosted by DC’s favorite movie man, WJLA’s Arch Campbell, and a screening of the French comedy Potiche starring legendary French screen siren Catherine Deneuve and the ever-mesmerizing Gerard Depardieu.

Film Fest DC.  It’s consistently provocative… and perfect for people who love movies!
