Last Kiss of Summer

While President Obama attempts to drum up bipartisan support for his jobs plan on Capitol Hill, policy wonks from both sides of the aisle, alongside the philanthropic crowd and media mavens, were able to come together to lend their full support to the employment plan set forth by Dr. Ludy Green, the President and Founder of Second Chance Employment Services.

The temperature outside dropped 20 degrees to hearken the arrival of fall, but guests geared up to fete the 8th annual “Last Kiss of Summer” Gala at the posh Four Seasons ballroom in Georgetown on Thursday evening. Toasting and schmoozing before enjoying an elegant feast and a night of dancing, attendees also had the chance to bid on an array of fancy prizes including as a pair of Vera Wang sunglasses, personal fitness training sessions, President’s Club tickets to a National’s game, and tickets the Emmy Awards!  All proceeds of the event benefited Second Chance Employment Services, a national nonprofit agency that seeks to break the cycle of violence, offering survivors of domestic violence career training and employment placement.
Dr. Green passionately explained that she wants to “change lives with love.” In the past decade, SCES has assisted over 700 women in finding the careers they need to attain financial independence.
