It's Electric!

The thought of going greener with your vehicle gets some supercharged… yet until lately, finding an electric power station was enough to cause overheating.

DC’s first public electric vehicle charging station debuted curbside near the Reeves Center to much fanfare in November of 2010, yet remained the city’s singular public station for over a year.  More wattage was wanted.

Enter 350Green, an organization which was responsible for 4 installations at the Pentagon City Fashion Centre (mall garage, next to Nordstrom) late last year, and which has a commitment to 47 total stations in the DC, MD and VA region. Eastbanc/Jamestown also unveiled a station at M Street in the PVI parking garage in late December, and Wal-Mart has an agreement for installations at its stores in partnership with ECOtality as well.

While it’s true that few electric charging opportunities currently exist in the District, and the exact demand for such stations is currently unknown, private developers and green friendly organizations are helping DC to create a new infrastructure for electric vehicle alternatives.

Finally, investing in that Volt, Leaf, Karma, Coda, Tesla…. won’t be such a shock to your system.
