Kate Michael, @kstreetkate, is a Writer/Model/On-Camera Host and Event Emcee. Notable as the Founder and current Editor-At-Large of K Street Magazine, Kate started the site while serving as Miss District of Columbia 2006 and competing in Miss America (2007). Currently, Kate works as a professional spokesperson and model, walking the runway for such industry icons as Valentino, Derek Lam, Naeem Kahn and Oscar de la Renta. Her media portfolio includes a spread in Elle magazine and features on Inside Edition and BBC World News’ “The Real Cities” series. First Impressions

The Bachelor’s Ashley Elmore knows about the importance of a first impression. Though the Virginia teacher failed to win Jake’s heart on the 14th season (even after surprising him in a flight attendant’s costume), she’s now giving lessons in her new love strategy – speed!

On Saturday, Elmore hosted a Pre-Valentine’s Day Speed Dating event at Ulah Bistro (1214 U Street NW) to benefit Culture Shock DC Dance Group.

But even fast love has its limits, and Elmore’s own single status couldn’t bring in the boys. Female slots filled up fast while organizers struggled to recruit men for available openings.
