PINKTOBER Music Marathon

Hard Rock Cafe Washington, DC and local breast cancer awareness organization Pink Jams! add a pop of PINK this September in honor of the Cafe’s 14th annual PINKTOBER™ breast cancer awareness campaign.

From 8:00 PM on September 27th and running through 12:00 PM on September 29th, a wide variety of local, regional, and national musicians will play back to back continuously for 39 hours and 59 minutes. The 2nd Annual Under:40 Music Marathon will once again benefit PINK JAMS!, an organization that focuses on raising breast cancer awareness for men and women under the age of 40. The event will also support City of Hope’s breast cancer research and treatment programs.

“Cancer struck a blow to my family before I was even born; it robbed me of ever meeting my maternal grandmother. I wrote the song “She Rose” while imagining what my mother must have felt like losing her mother to cancer all those years ago. By the age of 10, the woman I grew up calling grandma became a breast cancer survivor; to this day she still is. This is the second year that I have participated in the Pink Jams Under:40 Music Marathon because, eventually, I want the only cancer stories to be those told by survivors,” said Keith Center, lead singer of the dreamscapes project, who will be performing on Saturday afternoon during the music marathon.

Over 250 local artists (65+ bands total) will combine their talents to draw attention to the importance of breast cancer awareness for women and for men – particularly those under the age of 40.
