Kate Michael, @kstreetkate, is a Writer/Model/On-Camera Host and Event Emcee. Notable as the Founder and current Editor-At-Large of K Street Magazine, Kate started the site while serving as Miss District of Columbia 2006 and competing in Miss America (2007). Currently, Kate works as a professional spokesperson and model, walking the runway for such industry icons as Valentino, Derek Lam, Naeem Kahn and Oscar de la Renta. Her media portfolio includes a spread in Elle magazine and features on Inside Edition and BBC World News’ “The Real Cities” series. Laissez les bons temps rouler! For the first time ever, LivingSocial and Events DC are partnering to create a Mardi Gras soirée featuring Big Easy-style food and fun – right here in the District at the historic Carnegie Library

Guests will enjoy an all-you-can-eat Cajun buffet with traditional Louisiana specialties with dishes such as Crawfish Beignets with Cajun Dippin’ Sauce, Bayou Blackened Shrimp and Cheddar Cheese Grits, and the elaborate Kings Cake.

Festive formalwear is encouraged – think fancy mask and cape. And when the lights go low, check out performers from the Trapeze School of New York – Washington, DC, dance to live music by Out of Town Blues Band and DJ EPX, and indulge at the open wine and beer bar in a specialty Bacardi cocktail (all other drinks are available for cash). Guests can also visit the special Bacardi Airplane Bar for a unique
rum-tasting experience.
