Kate Michael, @kstreetkate, is a Writer/Model/On-Camera Host and Event Emcee. Notable as the Founder and current Editor-At-Large of K Street Magazine, Kate started the site while serving as Miss District of Columbia 2006 and competing in Miss America (2007). Currently, Kate works as a professional spokesperson and model, walking the runway for such industry icons as Valentino, Derek Lam, Naeem Kahn and Oscar de la Renta. March Madness is in full swing and Bud Light wants college basketball fans to pay attention to a different kind of bracket this year. U Street bar and restaurant Hawthorne (1336 U St NW) and Bud Light are hosting a Bracket Battle on Monday, March 28 from 6 to 9 p.m. The free and open to the public event will feature bartenders from bars across D.C. competing to see who can mix the best beer cocktail. Eight mixologists — from Hawthorne, Soundcheck, Echostage, Provision No. 14, Chinese Disco, Urbana, Big Chief and STK — will battle it out in teams of two representing the East, West, Midwest and South until they’re eliminated bracket-style and only one winning team remains. The best part: partygoers decide who wins — just drink and vote.
