The Alliance Française (AFDC) is thrilled to announce its first  2014 wine tasting event with First Vine, Friday, January 24, 2014. This event will focus exclusively on appellations from the Languedoc region of France. The tasting with First Vine begins at 7:00 pm at AFDC’s  Dupont location.
First Vine is a specialty vendor focusing on wines not otherwise imported to the D.C. area. The company’s owner Tom Natan has a long history of working exclusively with small wine producers in France and other countries. For the event at AFDC, First Vine will be introducing attendees to wines from vineyards in the Languedoc region of France, where winemaking has been a part of the culture since the 5th century B.C.
“Wine tastings at the Alliance are always popular events, but we try each time to introduce our guests to something new about France and its traditions,” said Sylvain Cornevaux, cultural director for AFDC.

“Partnering with First Vine is ideal, not only because they offer wines Washingtonians might not be familiar with, but also because Tom Natan and his staff are passionately knowledgeable about French winemaking.”
“The Languedoc region has some prestigious appellations that continue to produce great wines, alongside winemakers who are looking for freedom from the older rules and make what they like,” said Natan. “The two together make the Languedoc a fascinating place to explore and taste amazing wines.”
